Why This Category Gets Overlooked

Most site managers have their hazard signage sorted for the obvious risks — machinery, chemicals, electrical hazards. Slip hazards get less attention because they feel situational ("it's only wet when it rains" or "that ramp is only slippery after cleaning"), which means the signage and floor treatment often only go up after an incident, not before one.

The reality is that wet floors, ramps, metal stair treads, and loading dock edges are hazards on a permanent, predictable schedule — they're just not always visibly wet at the moment you walk past.

Signage and Flooring Work Together

A "Caution — Slippery Surface" sign is a warning, not a fix. It tells people to be careful, but it doesn't change the surface underfoot. Pairing signage with an actual anti-slip treatment — textured tape, coatings, or matting — addresses both the immediate warning and the underlying hazard.

Common combinations we supply:

• Ramps and loading docks: Anti-slip tape or tread strips plus a permanent warning sign at the top of the ramp.
• Wet processing areas (food, beverage, cleaning): Portable "Wet Floor" A-frame signs used during and after cleaning, alongside anti-slip floor treatment for permanently damp zones.

Placement That Actually Prevents Incidents

Signage should sit at the point of hazard, not buried on a noticeboard elsewhere in the building. For fixed hazards (ramps, stairs), a permanent sign at eye level is appropriate. For temporary hazards (spills, mopping), a portable A-frame or floor stand that gets moved to the exact spot is far more effective than a static wall sign.
